Who Am I?

I spend every second
of every day
of my life
working
to ge my parent’s
to be ok
with who I am.
For,
everything that I love,
they hate.
Every day
another person hates me
for being me,
not the real me
but the face that I put forward
so that i can protect
my already broken insides.
I lay in wait
for the day,
I can speak wear and act
the way I want.
And yet
I realize
that I have spent so much time
trying to hide who I truly am
by a person
everyone wants me to be
that I no longer know
who I truly am.
